The Drainage Designers developed 7 new flats on a previously occupied site, presenting challenges due to limited space and a high water table above London clay. To address this, we designed a bespoke foul and surface water drainage system meeting Thames Water's standards. Our solution included a large attenuation tank and pumping stations to accommodate the site's constraints, ultimately receiving permission to connect to existing sewers in December 2023.

The extension project at Kirkley Hall agricultural college in Northumberland required careful integration with the existing drainage network. A survey and CCTV inspection revealed significant damage to the network, necessitating the design of a new system. Liaising with the Local Authority, we devised a drainage strategy report before commencing the design. To ensure proper functionality, a new system with increased cover above the pipes was implemented, along with a hydrobrake at the outlet and a large attenuation tank to limit discharge to 5l/s. The drainage system was successfully designed and completed in 2020.

The development, utilising existing farm b​uildings, posed a straightforward challenge with t​he discharge point located in a ditch within the h​ighway verge. However, despite the proximity of t​he ditch to the last manhole on the system, invert l​evels prevented direct connection. To resolve t​his, we designed a ditch in the adjacent field to f​acilitate the transfer of water to a point where i​nvert levels aligned, allowing for connection into t​he highway ditch.
